Back to: Day 8 Mindfulness
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is being present in a given moment. Rather than thinking about what happened before or what you will be doing later, you need to be in the moment physically and mentally. It means living in the present moment. While it might sound relatively simple, with busy lives, our minds can often be everywhere but here at the moment.
How to be “mindful”
Mindfulness involves both awareness and acceptance. Being mindful requires paying attention to what you’re doing, observing your thoughts, and listening to your emotions. Being mindful also involves accepting all of these actions, thoughts, and emotions without judgment. No judging whether what you are thinking or feeling is “good” or “bad.” Instead, it involves letting your thoughts and feelings happen as they come to mind.
Mindful Eating
Mindful eating is a technique that helps you gain control over your eating habits. It has been shown to promote weight loss, reduce binge eating, and help you feel better.
Mindful eating starts with the food choices we make, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, and nuts. Pay attention to the food you eat, how much food you eat, the tastes and how it makes you feel.
